Miss Emma Harris

Assistant Headteacher

Designated Safeguarding Lead & Attendance

After gaining my degree at Liverpool John Moore’s University, I embarked on a career in the Travel and Tourism industry, working in overseas operations, product and public relations in the UK, France and Lanzarote. Whilst I gained lots of different skills and experiences during my time, I did not feel fulfilled, and wanted to do something with more purpose. I completed the Graduate Teacher Programme, specialising in English in 2005, and have not looked back since.

Over the past 17 years, I have taught in five different secondary schools across four different local authorities, and have been Assistant Headteacher at Kents Hill Park School since 2023. Prior to this, I was Assistant Headteacher at Sponne School, overseeing safeguarding, behaviour and wellbeing. I am constantly looking for opportunities to develop my skills and knowledge, and in 2015 completed my Masters Degree in Leadership and Education through the Open University. In 2022 I trained as a Senior Mental Health Lead – and have used this to develop excellent wellbeing support within Kents Hill Park School.

Within each of the settings I have worked in, I have enjoyed working with young people to help them be their best selves and showing them that there are no limits to the things they can achieve if they work hard, try their best and are kind – challenging prejudice, assumptions and bias.

I live in Northamptonshire with my daughter, partner and our cat Bob Bob. In my spare time, I enjoy playing netball, swimming, reading and doing yoga. I love travelling to new places and finding out about different cultures.
