Mr Matthew Grieve

Teacher of PE

I graduated from Edinburgh University with a degree in Applied Sport Science in 2020. I knew I wanted to use my degree in my career, initially continuing my work as a performance tennis coach for the East of Scotland. Although I really enjoyed working with young people and seeing them progress, I felt I could have more of an impact on overall development as a teacher.

My first school position was as a rugby graduate at a boarding school in Leicestershire in 2021 where I gained an understanding of teaching principles and pastoral responsibilities. This was a fantastic experience which convinced me to undertake a PGCE in PE at Denbigh School in Milton Keynes and I am excited to join Kents Hill Park as an ECT.

Outside of school, I still enjoy competing in tennis, rugby and powerlifting, although I am a big sports fan and also love watching cricket and football – which is much less frustrating now as England don’t broadcast my local team, Hearts. I enjoy spending time with friends, seeing family and anything Viking related.
