Mr Mark Lawrenson

Head of Physics & Teacher of Science

I started teaching in many years ago following my degree in Physics from Exeter University and from the first week at my first school, I fell in love with the career. I have had many roles – Head of Science and Assistant Headteacher in a number of schools, but decided that my real passion was for science and science education. I have contributed to the world of science education and teaching through many guises: writer, consultant, reviewer, lecturer as well as teacher but my love for the STEM subject remains constant.

Since joining Kents Hill Park, I’ve enabled us to be awarded Ogden Trust Partnership status to develop Physics teaching and learning in the locality. We’ve also been successful in gaining a STEM Learning Enthuse Partnership Award to help raise the profile of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths in Milton Keynes. We’ve also gained recognition for our innovation through the Rolls Royce Science Prize as Special Merit award winners.

In school, I am keen to get students (and parents and the community) engaged and fascinated by STEM – I run an astronomy club, a robotics club and a chess club. Outside of school, I have many interests: travelling, modern art, gastronomy to name but a few. If you’re interested in help STEM develop in the area and you would like more information on our projects, I can be found @marklawrenson15 on twitter
