Primary

Super Starts, Marvellous Middles and Fabulous Finishes

Kents Hill Park Primary enriches learning each half term with memorable moments that allow the children to experience learning in different ways. These can range from inviting parents in to take part in a craft session to a visiting mountaineer giving the children a talk about their adventures. The school strives for the children to have exciting and engaging learning experiences, both inside and outside of the classroom and so ensure the school’s curriculum planning reflects this.

Extra-curricular Activities

Kents Hill Park offers a range of after school clubs on set nights of the week each half term. These are aimed at the interests of the children and include:

Tag Rugby
Cookery
Computing
Dodgeball
Lego
Arts and Crafts
Zumba

Clubs run from 3.05pm - 4.05pm and can be booked in half termly blocks at a cost of £3 per week.

Pupils will also be invited to represent Kents Hill Park in the wider community at a range of sports festivals and fixtures hosted by schools in Milton Keynes.

Secondary

Extra-Curricular Clubs

Kents Hill Park offers after school clubs that are aimed at the interests of the pupils on set nights of the week.

These clubs will change on a half termly basis and are free of charge for secondary pupils.

After school clubs will usually run from 3.10pm – 4.10pm and it is the responsibility of the pupil to ensure parents are aware of their attendance. All pupils must leave the school site at either 3.10pm or at 4.10pm, unless specified due to the nature of the activity.

Pupils will also be invited to represent the school in the wider community at a range of sports festivals and fixtures hosted by schools in Milton Keynes and across Buckinghamshire. It is the responsibility of the pupil to ensure parents are aware of their attendance.

Please note: Clubs will not be running and the library will be closed to all pupils on the first and last week of each term/half term and on Parents' Evenings.

Duke of Edinburgh Awards

The Duke of Edinburgh award is the largest achievement award for young people across the world. The award is aimed at people aged 14-26 operating at three progressive levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. At Kents Hill Park School we currently offer the Bronze award to year 9 pupils and the silver award to year 10 pupils. There are four sections to complete at Bronze and Silver level and pupils must complete all sections to gain the award.

The award gives pupils an opportunity to discover new interests, develop new skills and is a recognised mark of achievement by employers. The DofE award is fully inclusive and has the sole purpose of developing individuals. It’s not about competition or being first, it’s about setting personal goals and pushing through personal boundaries.

Pupils must choose different activities to complete for the volunteering, physical and skills section. When completing the volunteering section, pupils will make a difference in their community by giving service to others. The physical section will aim to improve pupil’s physical fitness and lifestyle habits through regular participation. And finally the skill section will provide pupils with the opportunity to develop a new or existing skill to broaden their understanding and increase their expertise in a given area.

Bronze

Bronze activities must be completed for 3 months, with one section being completed for 6 months. When completing the activities, pupils are recommend to complete 1 hour per week of each activity.

Silver

The Silver award will require pupils to complete the volunteering section for 6 months, and the physical and skill for 3 months. Pupils must then undertake a further 3 months in the physical or skill section.

Information on meetings, deadlines and additional activities will be communicated to both pupils and parents regularly. All training provisions are mandatory and pupils must complete 2 out of the 3 sections prior to expedition. If pupils fail to meet these requirements they will be removed from the programme.
